More than just your local pharmacy

The Basics

Staff Induction for new branch members helping you work through all our system and procedures so as to ensure you understand the HBS way and fit in from the start.

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) – it’s not just about fitting in from the start but continuing your journey of learning and development.

For pharmacist we intend to operate a number of CPD days across the yearly calendar which include clinical sessions and support completion of your CPD records.

For dispensers and counter assistants we offer a progressive apprenticeship development programme from NVQ level 2 to Accredited ACT status with our partner Preston College which cover our North West region. As we expand we will endeavour to replicate the level of training with other local providers. Training where appropriate is often on an day release basis.  HBS also offer distance learning opportunities with nationally accredited and renowned providers for Counter assistant, Dispensary NVQ and CPPE training.

On Site Training – At HBS we believe that often the best way to learn is from others and hence expect senior more experienced staff to provide supervision, assessment and support to others less trained or experienced in their field.  At HBS we operate a buddy system so as to always ensure there is someone to turn to for help and advice along the way.

Off site Training – we are continuing to look at various key skills and training needs of staff and have commissioned a number of offsite training opportunities in areas such as customer care, managing people, training assessment, induction and appraisals amongst others to improve knowledge and the wider business and people management skills necessary to succeed both personally and as a business.

For Pharmacist Branch Managers – We are hoping to soon make available evening and day release management courses including post graduate certificate and diplomas in management studies available through a number of local colleges and universities. We believe this level of training is essential to provide our managers with the necessary knowledge to handle  the branch responsibility and develop their staff and meet the vision and goals of the organisation.

For newly qualified pharmacists – HBS provide pre reg training for graduates looking to progress and deliver pharmacy services under the pharmacy NHS contract. Our pre reg pharmacist are expected to work through a detailed learning plan and gain experience from hands on experience and supervision by trained tutors.

Summer Placements – we also provide Pharmacy Undergraduate with summer placements across all our branches. Quite often we are also able to provide reqular evening and weekend work.  Please check vacancies for details.
