The HBS Care Homes model is centred on a specialist offering to residential and nursing homes, which is the most comprehensive of any pharmacy in the UK and provides many benefits. Our mission is to enhance patient safety, personalise care and improve quality of life.
We have two large Care Home Dispensing Centres, one in Preston and one London, covering many of the care homes throughout the UK and taking care of more than 10,000 patients. They ensure that you are getting a service from a team to you and your needs, without the distractions of walk-in customers and counter sales usually found in a community pharmacy-based setting.
Ensuring smooth interactions between the care homes and HBS, is of the utmost important to us. That’s why we assign a dedicated dispenser to each home to deal with all your queries and handle any enquiries through our ticketing systems. In this way, we can provide a personalised service and somebody that understands your individual needs.
The HBS Care Homes Service offers a number of managed medication systems including dosset boxes, nomad, original packs, MDS, Biodose and Med Pouch.
With our unique services and our dedicated personnel, including pharmacist managers and a customer services team, we are able to provide a personal service to each home and unrivalled care for each resident.
Acute prescription handling – same day delivery
At the HBS Care Homes Service, our service users are our number one priority and we understand the pressures faced on a daily basis in supplying acute medication like antibiotics. Our aim is therefore to provide a service that alleviates these pressures by delivering your medication to you that same day.
Our dedicated care home pharmacies will be happy to train all your staff in the medication system of your choice. We also offer training courses at our Head Office in Preston and in London on various topics for senior staff members. We can provide the following:
- medication system training delivered on site
- a fully accredited ‘Certificate in Safe Handling of Medication’ for each member of staff
- an Assessors Workshop giving each home the independence to train and assess own staff
All modules are fully certified and the training is accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
In addition, we carry out CQC regulated audits. We have an exclusive online ticketing system for better communication and we also offer quarterly service review meetings.
All these services are provided to the care home FREE of charge.
